Burnout
Burnout means the loss of cellular energy. Every cell in our body requires energy to perform its unique function. Muscle cells need energy to contract; nerve cells need energy to conduct impulses; immune cells need energy for defense, etc. When cellular energy production is impaired, cells lose their ability to function properly and may fail and die. Our metabolism suffers and we experience a lack of energy. Symptoms include fatigue, sluggishness, weight gain, brain fog, slowed reflexes and organ dysfunction. Three main categories of burnout include insulin resistance, mitochondrial dysfunction, and thyroid disorders.
